MIDLAND -- The Michigan Baseball Foundation is auctioning an autographed Clayton Kershaw Dodgers replica baseball jersey during the month of February at Loons.com in the first of MBF’s monthly online auctions for 2009.  All proceeds from the monthly online auctions benefit MBF, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and public charity.

Each month, a new item will be found at Loons.com.  Interested buyers can click on the “Loon Loft & Team Store” tab on the left of the home page and select “Auctions” to place a bid.  Prospective buyers will have from the first of each month until the last day of the month to place a bid for the featured item of the month.  Each month’s highest bidder will be contacted by a member of the Loons staff to arrange a pickup of the item.

Kershaw spent most of his first full professional season with the Great Lakes Loons in 2007.  As a highly-touted 19-year old prospect, Kershaw went 7-5 with a 2.77 ERA during the Loons’ inaugural season, earning Midwest League Prospect of the Year honors and a selection to the MLB Futures Game in San Francisco.

In 2008, Kershaw became the first former Loons player to reach the major leagues, pitching for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 22 regular season games and two playoff games against the eventual World Champion Philadelphia Phillies.

Kershaw’s jersey will be offered as an auction item until February 28.  The bidding starts at $200 and bids are accepted in $10 increments.

Please contact Loons’ staff members Patti Tuma or Ann Craig at 989-837-BALL with any questions.

The Michigan Baseball Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and public charity, which was formed in 2006 to generate regional economic development through creative partnerships and grants and to enhance the efforts of regional organizations that serve young people.  The Michigan Baseball Foundation owns and operates Dow Diamond, home of the Great Lakes Loons, a Class A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers.  The Foundation received its initial funding from The Dow Chemical Company Foundation, The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation, The Dow Corning Corporation, The Rollin M. Gerstacker Foundation, The Charles J. Strosacker Foundation and The Bill and Linda Stavropoulos Foundation.
