Michigan now 5-6 in Big Ten play

ANN ARBOR (AP) -- Manny Harris scored 28 points as Michigan beat Penn St. 71-51 for a key Big Ten victory on Thursday night.

Harris, who was ejected from Saturday's loss at Purdue, helped Michigan (15-8, 5-6 Big Ten) win for just the second time in six games.

The loss ended Penn State's winning streak at four games - their longest conference run since 1996. The Nittany Lions (17-6, 6-4) are now 1-14 at Crisler Arena.

Stu Douglass added 13 points for the Wolverines. Jamelle Cornley led Penn State with 25, but their high-scoring guard combination of Stanley Pringle and Talor Battle combined for just 16 on 6-for-29 shooting.

Penn State led 31-29 at the half, thanks to 15 points from Cornley, but Michigan rallied after the intermission. Sims and Harris combined for 13 points in a 16-3 run that put the Wolverines ahead 45-36 with 10:15 to go.

The Wolverines held Penn State to 20 second-half points.
