Mike Alexiou has been injured since November
FLINT -- The Flint Generals have been buried at the bottom of the International Hockey League standings for most of the season.
Now, the team's ownership group could be named the defendant in a civil lawsuit.
Generals forward Mike Alexiou, who has been out with a concussion since November, has hired a lawyer and plans on filing a lawsuit seeking back pay from the team.
"I just hope the owners realize what they are doing to the community, the fans, the players. I really wish things could be made right here for them to have a team. I came back this year. I like the Flint community and that's pretty much the only reason I came back here," said Alexiou, who claims that many people associated with the franchise are owed money.
When asked about the possible lawsuit on Wednesday, the Flint Generals public relations department said it was aware of Alexiou's press conference and had no comment on the matter.
In a press release emailed to members of the Flint media, Alexiou says he will be owed over $14,000 by the end of the season.
