Center headed to MSU for college

DETROIT (AP) -- Derrick Nix from Detroit Pershing is the 2009 winner of Michigan's Mr. Basketball award.
The 6-foot-9 senior center is the 29th recipient of the annual award.
Nix is averaging 15 points and 15 rebounds per game for the Doughboys, who earned a spot in Tuesday's Class A state quarterfinals.
He'll play at Michigan State next year.
