Olympic swimmer Patterson among inductees
UNIVERSITY CENTER -- The Saginaw County Sports Hall of Fame announced its eighth class of inductees Monday night on the campus of Saginaw Valley State University.
This year's class consists of Wade King, Dave "Tuck" Bedford, Pat Boyd, Art Gelow, Wendell Nehmer, Howard Patterson, Terri Phillion-Dulude, Mike Walderzak and Frank "Muddy" Waters.
The Saginaw St. Peter and Paul's hoops teams from 1946-48 will also be honored during the November 8th induction banquet.
King was a 16-time NCAA champion swimmer at the University of South Carolina.
Bedford was a member of the Saginaw Bolters fastpitch softball team.
Boyd was a standout quarterback at Central Michigan University.
Gelow starred in three different sports at Arthur Hill in the early 1960's and is currently the head golf coach at Savannah State University.
