BROOKLYN -- In furthering its commitment to preserving the environment and its natural resources, Michigan International Speedway’s charitable arm – MIS Cares – is partnering with the NASCAR Foundation to host an online auction with proceeds benefiting Racing for Wildlife. The auction runs until Friday, June 5.

Fans can visit the online auctions section of the NASCAR Foundation’s Web site at foundation.nascar.com and bid on various race experiences for the ARCA RE/MAX Series Racing for Wildlife 200, including serving as the grand marshal, honorary starter or attending the driver’s meeting before the race. The Racing for Wildlife 200 will be held at MIS on Friday, June 12.

The Racing for Wildlife organization, which is in its second year of sponsoring the ARCA RE/MAX Series event at MIS, was formed in 2007 as a joint effort between the Ryan Newman Foundation and the Conservation Fund. Racing for Wildlife has teamed with MIS to support and conserve the Waterloo Recreation Area, in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Michigan United Conservation Clubs (MUCC). The 20,000-acre Waterloo recreation area is approximately 30 miles north of MIS and home to four campgrounds, beaches, picnic areas and 11 fishing lakes

“This is a wonderful opportunity for the die-hard race fan to bid on these great once-in-a-lifetime experiences,” MIS Director of Government and Community Affairs Alisha Cottrell said. “To be able to possibly wave the green flag or serve as grand marshal for the ARCA RE/MAX Series Racing for Wildlife 200 are opportunities that don’t come around very often. Racing for Wildlife is a wonderful organization that is helping rebuild the Mill Lake Youth Camp in Waterloo Twp, Mich. and we’re happy to support it.”

“We’re hoping that this auction, which is featuring many great items for the Racing for Wildlife 200, will raise money to help us in our efforts to restore areas like the Mill Lake Youth Camp in Waterloo,” Racing for Wildlife Vice President – Southeast Rex Boner said. “We appreciate the support from MIS Cares and the NASCAR Foundation in this endeavor.”

Nestled in the lush Irish Hills of Southeastern Michigan, Michigan International Speedway is the Great Escape, a venerable NASCAR national park where fans can get away and enjoy the very best in racing and camaraderie. It’s the love of racing and the thrill of a great time for race fans and drivers alike.

Tickets and camping are on sale now. For additional information, call the MIS Ticket Hotline at 800-354-1010 or visit MISpeedway.com.
