(AP) -- DETROIT (AP) - The Motor City Bowl and Little Caesars Pizza are in discussions to rename the postseason college football game.

Motor City Bowl CEO and former Michigan State coach George Perles says he and Ken Hoffman, the bowl's executive director, recently approached the chain about renaming the game the Little Caesars Pizza Pizza Bowl. The title would incorporate Little Caesars' advertising tagline.

WWJ-AM reported the possible name change on Monday.

Perles says the change is a response to General Motors Co.'s and Chrysler LLC's withdrawal as sponsors. Ford Motor Co. remains a sponsor of what was called the Ford Motor City Bowl when it began in 1997.

Both Perles and Little Caesars say no agreements have been reached.

This year's game will be played Dec. 26.
