STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN (AP) -- St. Louis edged the Detroit Red Wings 4-3 in their NHL opener as the Blues rallied from two goals down to beat last season's Stanley Cup finalists.

The game drew a sellout crowd of 13,850 at the Ericsson Globe Arena on Friday night.

St. Louis turned it around by scoring three straight goals within a span of 5:05 in the second period, starting when Paul Kariya got the first of his two goals. The veteran forward scored again at 17:36 to win it.

The third period was scoreless.
