Schools raise almost $10,000 for cancer research
FRANKENMUTH -- Frankenmuth rallied in all three games, but fell short each and every time as the top ranked North Branch volleyball team swept them 25-20, 25-23, 25-14 Wednesday night.
Both teams wore pink jerseys with the names of loved ones affected by cancer printed on the back.
The schools combined to raise close to $10,000 for the American Cancer Society and the Side-Out Foundation.
Despite the win, North Branch was disappointed with its effort.
"I'll talk a lot about their effort tomorrow night in practice. I'm happy to get a win because it's a league game. It sets us up to win the league for the sixth year in a row. If our effort is not a little bit better than it was tonight, we're going to have a short season in the postseason," exclaimed Broncos head coach Jim Fish.
"We are a lot better than what we showed tonight. When teams start hitting at us, we were getting down. Its just not in our nature to fall apart. We always come back. We should have never let that happen in the first place," added junior setter Jordan Fish.
