Ingram a finalist for 75th Heisman Trophy
FLINT -- In recognition of Mark Ingram, Jr.'s accomplishments, Flint Mayor Dayne Walling has proclaimed Saturday. December 12, 2009 as 'Mark Ingram, Jr. Day'.
Ingram is a star running back at the University of Alabama and is a finalist for the 2009 Heisman Trophy Award.
The Flint native is a 2008 graduate of Flint Southwestern Academy. He's been on the Dean's list at Alabama and was also an accomplished high school student and athlete.
Along with declaring December 12th as 'Mark Ingram, Jr. Day' in Flint, Mayor Walling is also inviting the community to gather for a Heisman Trophy Awards Ceremony viewing party. The viewing party will be held Saturday, December 12th at Luigi's Restaurant and Pizzeria at 2132 Davison Road. It begins at 7:00 p.m. The cost is $5.00 per person for pizza and salad bar.
"The Heisman Trophy is college's most prestigious athletic award. We are extremely proud to have the opporunity to watch this young Flint native be considered for such an honor," said Mayor Walling.
