Heritage breezes past Midland

FLUSHING -- A pair of local standout teams encountered little resistance on their way to respective conference victories.

At Flushing, defending Class-B state champ Flint Powers built a 23-6 lead after just one quarter at Flushing, and cruised to a 79-59 victory over their Big Nine rivals.  Elsewhere, in Saginaw Township, Heritage fended off a pesky Midland team with a decisive fourth-quarter run, earning a 62-40 victory.  After building a 17-point lead in the third quarter, the Chemics put together a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to ten.  But the Hawks would not allow them any closer, and went on for a decisive Saginaw Valley victory.
