Andre Dirrell fights Arthur Abraham on Saturday night at Joe Louis Arena.
(AP) -- DETROIT - Andre Dirrell says it's a mark in history to be part of what might be Michigan's biggest boxing match in nearly three decades.
The Flint, Mich., native will face Germany's Arthur Abraham on March 27 at Joe Louis Arena in the Super Six World Boxing Classic.
It is shaping up to be arguably the most significant bout in a state with a rich boxing history since 1981, when Larry Holmes beat Leon Spinks.
Dirrell is hoping that fighting near his hometown will help. The Armenia-born Abraham says he isn't worried about competing as a pro for just the third time outside of Germany.
Abraham knocked out Jermain Taylor and Dirrell lost a split decision to Carl Froch in the first round of the super middleweight tournament.
