Detroit starts season 4-1
DETROIT (AP) -- Jeremy Bonderman gave up one hit in five innings and Magglio Ordonez had a two-run homer, leading the Detroit Tigers to a 4-2 win over the Cleveland Indians on Saturday.
Bonderman (1-0) retired the first 11 he faced, then allowed a run on a wild pitch, single and two walks.
The right-hander started for the first time at home in nearly two years since having surgery to break up a blood clot in his throwing shoulder.
Brad Thomas followed for two innings, Fu-Ten Ni got two outs and Ryan Perry pitched the final 1 1-3 innings for his first career save.
Mitch Talbot (0-1) allowed four runs, six hits and five walks over five innings in his debut with the Indians and fourth game in the majors.
The Tigers have won three straight and four of five.
