East-West All-Star Game set for Monday at 7 p.m.
DETROIT -- The 29th Annual Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association (MHSBCA) East-West All-Star game is set to take place at Comerica Park on Monday, June 21 at 7:00 p.m. A total of 28 students from public and private schools throughout the state of Michigan will be showcasing their talent during the yearly event.
MHSBCA hosts the annual event, which features the best graduating high school baseball players in the state of Michigan. The game, as in years past, will be presented by the Detroit Tigers Foundation, an affiliate of Ilitch Charities, in an effort to strengthen the game of baseball among youth throughout the state of Michigan.
The All-Star Classic annually features Michigan draft prospects. This year Mark Brown, Jr. of Detroit Martin Luther King was selected in the 2010 Major League Baseball June Draft. Brown was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 19th round.
Fraser native and 1996 A.L. Cy Young winner, Pat Hentgen, will throw the ceremonial first pitch prior to the game. Hentgen played in the 1986 East-West High School All-Star game when he attended Fraser High School.
Tickets will be available for $5 at the door with gates opening at 6:00 p.m. Kids who wear their little league uniforms are granted free admission to the game.
