Two lengthy rain delays during Sunday's final round

BURTON -- Emmanuel Petrich carded a final round 77 (+5), but held off his playing partners on Sunday to win the open division of the Genesee County Amateur at IMA Brookwood Golf Club in Burton.

Northwood University golfer Matt Ostby shot a final round 73 (+1), but fell one stroke short of catching Petrich.

Petrich shot 72-72-77 to claim the championship, a likely huge source of momentum for the former Grand Blanc Bobcat as he prepares for the Flint City Amateur in two weeks.

In the senior division, Flint's Larry Hogard erased a six-stroke deficit to force a sudden death playoff with Jeff Barnes, then beat Barnes on the first playoff hole.

"Larry's a great golfer and its been a great match.  Playing at Brookwood, they've got the greens in magnificent shape, the course is great.  It's a great time, I'm enjoying myself," said Hogard, who managed a final round 71 (-1) despite the rain delays.
