'Hell Bent' scheduled for Saturday night
BAY CITY -- Adrenalin Fight League is going through final preparations for Saturday's 'Hell Bent' at the Dow Event Center.
The mixed martial arts event will feature between 15-20 fights, with eight AFL fighters taking part.
"I just do the best I can and between wrestling and jujutsu. Its a pretty easy transition because I always got good position and I'm starting to put it all together and its going to be pretty gnarly when I get in the cage," says Troy Lamson, a state champion wrestler from Swan Valley High School.
Lamson's fight will be in the lightweight division.
"Saginaw hasn't had a really good MMA show. They've had a few promotions come in but I believe Adrenalin Fight League will have the best promotion there. We'll pack the house," says John Schulz, who coaches a lot of the younger fighters but is also fighting in the open division.
"When I first started here I was 298 pounds. Now i'm down to 230, it was the best thing to ever happen to me really. We got guys here that push you everyday, it makes it that much easier. When you got four state champion wrestlers at a gym and a great coach, its easier to do," says David O'neil, another state champion wrestler who graduated from Essexville-Garber High School in 2008.
O'neil is hoping to eventually cut down to 205 pounds.
