New head coach Bob Buckle hopes to create winning tradition
OTISVILLE -- After a decade of futility, the LakeVille football program has turned to one of the most respected figures in high school football coaching circles to try and get the Falcons turned around.
Former Flushing head coach Bob Buckle now takes the reins at LakeVille, after two decades of success with the Raiders. But now he inherits a program which has struggled mightily in recent years, with records of 1-8 in each of the team's last five consecutive seasons. They have not registered a winning record since 2000, when the Falcons finished 5-4.
LakeVille players are looking for a fresh start under a man with a proven track record.
"He knows what he's talking about," said senior defensive end Brandon Evers. "He's had the experience coaching for the longest time, and he just knows where everybody should be, and what they should be doing and what kind of attitude they should have. We just gotta get in that groove, once we're in that groove, we're gonna be a hard team to stop. Because we've got some physical players, and we can really fly down the field."
