Righty goes seven innings in 5-2 Detroit win
DETROIT (AP) -- Max Scherzer beat an AL Central opponent for the first time in 10 tries this season, pitching the Detroit Tigers past the Cleveland Indians 5-2 Saturday night.
Scherzer (9-9) allowed two or fewer runs for the fifth straight start. He gave up one earned run and four hits in seven innings, striking out eight.
Don Kelly homered and Austin Jackson doubled, singled and scored twice for the Tigers.
