Wolverines start quickly en route to 30-10 victory over UConn
ANN ARBOR (AP) -- Denard Robinson accounted for 383 yards and two touchdowns in his first game as Michigan's starting quarterback, leading the Wolverines to a 30-10 win over Connecticut on Saturday at the bigger than ever Big House.
Robinson ran for 197 yards - setting a school record for a quarterback - and a TD. He was 19 of 22 for 186 yards and a score.
The Wolverines and embattled coach Rich Rodriguez desperately needed the victory. They lost 16 games in his first two seasons with college football's winningest team and violated major NCAA rules for the first time in program history.
Connecticut rallied from a 21-point deficit and had a chance to pull within a TD late in the third quarter, but USC transfer D.J. Shoemate fumbled at the Michigan 3.
A football attendance record was set with 113,090 at the new-look Big House.
