Falcons dominant in starting season 2-0
OTISVILLE -- COURTESY: VIEW NEWSPAPERS - The Bob Buckel era could not have started any better for the Falcons as they have opened the season 2-0 after a dominating 66-0 win over Bridgeport last Thursday. The Falcons have not given up a point this season after defeating Marlette last week, 35-0. Buckel has his team playing inspired ball and it led to some history on Thursday.
With the 66-0 win, the Falcons won by their largest margin ever and started the season 2-0 for the first time since 1999. Buckel’s high powered offense and stingy defense frustrated the Bearcats all night long.
Fullback Kenny Sanders led the charge on the ground with eight carries for 146 yards and three touchdowns, as the LakeVille offensive line had their way with Bridgeport and opened huge running lanes all night long. Garrett Taylor had 84 yards on nine carries and one score, and also caught a touchdown from quarterback Trevor Komar.
Running back Nick Streichert also caught a touchdown pass from Komar and found paydirt on the ground, as well. Komar passed for 73 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 23 yards and a score.
The Falcons will see how they stack up against the powers that be, when they begin conference play next week. LakeVille hosts Lake Fenton on Friday, its first big test of the 2010 season.
