Saginaw defeated, 4-2
The Saginaw Spirit lost to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 4-2 Saturday night, splitting the exhibition series 1-1. The Spirit will resume their pre-season with exhibitions games against the Sarnia Sting next weekend, in Sarnia Friday night and at the Saginaw Bay Ice Arena Saturday at 4:00 PM. SAULT STE. MARIE --
Saginaw Spirit center Vincent Trocheck notched the first goal of the game on a power play at 8:32 in the first period. Assists came from defenseman Brad Walch and winger Ivan Telegin. Soo winger Vern Cooper evened up scoring with a a power play goal at 13:19, with center Daniel Catenacci and defenseman Gianluca Curcuruto assisting on the play. Center Brett Thompson earned the third goal of the frame at 16:57 on a power play, moving the Greyhounds ahead 2-1. Curcuruto and Cooper assisted on the play.
The second period saw Spirit winger Micky Sartoretto notching an unassisted goal at the 7:45 mark, tying the score 2-2. Greyhounds defenseman Colin Miller counter-attacked with a goal of the frame at the 8:00 mark, moving the score 3-2. Center Brett Thompson and winger Adam Chapman assisted on the play. Soo center Trevor Morbeck notched the final goal of the game at 2:56 in the third period off of an assist from center Brett Findlay, finalizing the score 4-2.
