Mid-Michigan teams struggle on Saturday afternoon
MIDLAND -- A 35-point output for Midland would typically produce a Chemic victory, but they ran into a team which was able to one-up them on the offensive side of the ball.
The Fenton Tigers stormed into Midland Community Stadium to earn a 42-35 victory over the host Chemics on Saturday night, becoming the only team amongst four in the Flint Metro to win their playoff opener.
Fenton also earned the distinction of being the only Mid-Michigan team to emerge victorious on a very tough day for area teams. In Division Three, Bay City John Glenn saw their excellent season come to a humbling end, as they were steamrolled by visiting Marquette, 63-14. Elsewhere in Division Three, it was also a poor conclusion for Lapeer East's season, as they were decimated by Orchard Lake St. Mary's, 54-13.
Meanwhile, in Division Four, Ogemaw Heights put up a great fight at Kingsford, but ultimately came up on the short end of a 22-15 final. Lastly, in Division Seven, Bendle was absolutely no match for Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes, as the Tigers were blanked, 41-0.
