Rockets moving on in Class C after straight-sets victory
NEW LOTHROP -- A pair of Mid-Michigan schools battled for a regional volleyball title in Class C on Thursday night, but only one would earn the right to move on to the state quarterfinals.
With Reese and Nouvel C.C. each earning comfortable victories in their respective regional openers, the two teams met in New Lothrop with their seasons on the line. The Rockets jumped out to a big lead in the opening set before the Panthers slowly chipped away at the deficit and narrowed it to three. Reese was bending but they did not break, eventually earning a 25-21 victory in the opening set, and riding that momentum to a straight-sets victory.
Game scores were 25-21, 25-18, and 25-12.
