Fenton crushed at Walled Lake Central
MILLINGTON -- After a heartbreaking loss to Clare in last year's Division Five state semi-finals, Millington made it their season-long mission to finish what they started and earn a trip to Ford Field.
They are now one victory away from making it a reality.
In one of the most exciting playoff games involving a Mid-Michigan game thus far, the Cardinals outlasted Madison Heights Madison by a thrilling, 27-26 final. Jesse Stewart gained 117 yards on the ground on 29 carries, and scored a touchdown. Quarterback Noah Moore was a dual threat for Millington, throwing for 119 yards with a touchdown, and rushing for two other scores.
The Cardinals await the winner of Olivet and Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard in next weekend's state semi-finals.
In Division Two, the news was not as good for the Fenton Tigers. After impressive road victories over both Midland and Midland Dow the past two weekends, the Tigers could not find the magic to overcome a strong team from Walled Lake Central. Though a Fenton touchdown brought them within a 7-6 deficit in the first quarter, the host Vikings took command from there. Walled Lake Central scored the game's next 32 points, and breezed to a 39-13 victory over Fenton.
