New York earns 4-3 victory over Detroit

DETROIT (AP) -- P.A. Parenteau scored on a power play at 3:57 of overtime to give the New York Islanders a 4-3 victory over the Western Conference-leading Detroit Red Wings on Friday night.

Parenteau put in a one-timer from the left faceoff dot for his ninth goal.

John Tavares had a goal and two assists, Matt Moulson and Jesse Joensuu also scored and Dwayne Roloson made 38 saves for New York.

The Islanders, coming off a 2-1 shootout victory over Eastern Conference-leading Pittsburgh on Wednesday night, are 6-1-1 in their last eight games.

Johan Franzen, Valtteri Filppula and Tomas Tatar scored for Detroit. Darren Helm had two assists and Jimmy Howard stopped 18 shots.
