Senior drops in 24 points to lead all scorers
MT. MORRIS TOWNSHIP -- Tommie McCune has been working tirelessly to add three-point shooting to his skill set, and Monday night fans saw the work pay off.
McCune hit four three-pointers to lead Saginaw to a 68-65 victory at Flint Northwestern.
"We are just constantly in the gym. Coach Dawkins calls me, says 'lets get in the gym.' Me being the type of player that's willing to work on stuff and get better.,I felt like that would be a great part of my game to add," said McCune, who led all scorers with 24 points.
Flint Northwestern made it interesting, leading by two after the first quarter and trailing by only two at the half.
"Flint Northwestern has that tradition. When you come in here you've got to be mentally and physically ready to play them. They have a very good basketball team. They have some very good guards," said Saginaw coach Lou Dawkins.
Wildcats senior Ahasuerus McDonald had 19 points, and fellow senior Jaylen Magee added 18.
