Reynolds comes to CMU from Central Oklahoma
MT. PLEASANT -- Central Michigan head football coach Dan Enos has named Vinson Reynolds to the Chippewas' coaching staff.
Reynolds will coach the defensive linemen.
"Vinson brings an outstanding knowledge of the game to his role, not to mention a lot of energy and enthusiasm," Enos said. "He's no stranger to the MAC or the state of Michigan, having played in college at Northern Illinois University and in high school in the city of Detroit."
Reynolds comes to CMU from Central Oklahoma, where he coached the defensive line in 2010. He worked with a pair of All-Lone Star Conference honorable mention defensive linemen during his one season at Central Oklahoma.
Reynolds served in a quality control role with a focus on the defensive line at Oklahoma State during the 2008 and 2009 seasons, assisting with teams that posted back-to-back 9-4 records and appeared in the Holiday Bowl and Cotton Bowl.
Prior to Oklahoma State, Reynolds spent the 2006-07 seasons as the defensive line coach at Wisconsin-Platteville. He worked directly with an all-conference first-team selection in 2007 and mentored a second-team honoree in 2006.
Reynolds was a standout defensive end at Northern Illinois, where he earned four varsity letters (2000-03) and was named to the All-Mid-American Conference first team in 2003. He was voted Defensive Player of the Year as a senior for a team that finished 10-2 overall and was ranked as high as No. 12 nationally by the Associated Press.
Reynolds earned his bachelor's degree in sociology from Northern Illinois in 2004, and he earned a master's degree in adult education from Wisconsin-Platteville in 2007.
A native of Detroit, Reynolds attended St. Martin de Porres High School where he played for current Inkster High School head coach Greg Carter.
