Late comeback by defending state champs comes up short, as Trojans win, 67-63
SAGINAW -- It was just a regular season game, but the atmosphere of the crowd and stature of the teams gave Saturday night's battle the feel of something much, much more.
After building a second-half lead as large as a dozen points, the Saginaw Trojans fought off a late charge from defending state champion Kalamazoo Central, and earned a 67-63 win. The victory pushed The High to 14-2 on the season, while the Maroon Giants dropped to 11-2.
The Trojans will not have a chance to come up for air, however, as their tough schedule continues this week with a battle against SVL foe Bay City Western. The Warriors are 6-1 in the league, just one game behind first-place Saginaw.
