Spitfires breeze to 6-2 win to even series at two wins apiece

The WINDSOR, ON -- Saginaw Spirit suffered their first loss of the season at the WFCU Centre of Windsor, a 6-2 defeat that evens up the playoff series between the two teams at two games apiece.  The Spirit host the Spitfires for game five of the best-of-seven series Saturday at The Dow Event Center of Saginaw.

The Spitfires opened up a four goal lead in the first period, courtesy goals from defenseman Ryan Ellis, center Alexander Khokhlachev, winger Jeff Brown and winger Kenny Ryan.  The Spirit would reduce the deficit to 4-1 early in the second period with winger Josh Shalla scoring a power play goal at the 3:40 mark from winger Jordan Szwarz and center Ivan Telegin, but the Spitfires would regain their four goal advantage moments later with winger Jake Carrick scoring a power play goal later in the frame.  The Spirit continued to pressure and moved the score to 5-2 after center John McFarland scored from center Mathew Sisca and defenseman Ben Chiarot at 10:32 in the third, but the Spitfires would bounce right back seconds later to make it 6-2 courtesy Carrick’s second goal of the night.

Spirit goalie Mavric Parks posted 27 saves on 33 shots, while Spitfires goalie Jack Campbell notched 29 saves on 31 shots.
