Former MSU star teaches youngsters the game of basketball
CARROLLTON TWP. -- Jason Richardson has been in Mid-Michigan all week, taking time to give back to the community that he came from.
Friday was no different as The Jason Richardson Foundation hosted a one day 'skillz and drillz' basketball camp at Carrollton High School.
Richardson wasn't the only former MSU star to get in on the fun, Former two-time Big Ten Player Of The Year Mateen Cleaves was on hand as well.
The youngsters in attendance got a chance to get to play one-on-one with Richardson, hear some words of wisdom, and even see him show off his skills on the court.
But for Jason it's only about one thing and one thing only...the kids.
"it's nice to see the joy on the kids faces. For guy from Saginaw to make it to the NBA gives them inspiration, and dreams so they can also achieve goals they don't think they can reach," said Richardson.
The same goes for former Spartan Mateen Cleaves.
"It's very beneficial for the kids from this area. Whenever they ask me to come down and make time, I do. It's important to give back to the kids," Cleaves said.
