South Bend sweeps Great Lakes

MIDLAND -- Keeping the game close was not enough to light a fire under Great Lakes, as they lost to the South Bend Silver Hawks 5-4 in ten innings on Friday night.

The loss brings the losing streak of the Loons to four straight games.

The game did not come without its bright spots, however.

Pitcher Rick Anton, who made his second start with the Loons, pitched five innings of solid work, only allowing two runs and striking out five, not factoring into the decision.

Jesse Bosnik, who entered the showdown hitting 12-34 over his previous ten games, enjoyed a 3-4 day, including two home runs off South Bend pitchers, bringing his season total to five.

The Loons downward spiral pushes them to five and a half games behind Eastern Division leading Dayton.

Great Lakes travels to Fort Wayne Saturday night for the start of a three-game series against the TinCaps.
