Frankenmuth prepares for the first round playoff game against Powers Catholic Friday
FRANKENMUTH -- The Frankenmuth Eagles are ready for their first-round match up with the Powers Catholic Chargers.
Tim Van Wormer's team hasn't been in the playoffs in four years, so he said his guys are thrilled to be in the post season at all. But, that doesn't mean they'll settle for that. He said the Eagles want to win and move and hopefully, they said, face the Millington Cardinals. They gave Frankenmuth one of three losses during the regular season. The other two were to Hemlock and Vassar, both team that are in the playoffs.
Van Wormer said his team is good on the road, so going to Holy Redeemer Field Friday night makes no difference to them. But, Van Wormer did admit, with Powers size, that makes these two teams fairly evenly matched.
"Our offense is the option offense," Van Wormer said. "But [Powers] is big so it's the equalizer. It's how Navy is able to beet Notre Dame, size is the ultimate equalizer. Our quarterback has been in the system for three years, our backs are quick, and offensive line gets after it."
