SAGINAW TOWNSHIP -- The defending State Champion Yellowjackets have not lost a game since the state semifinal in 2009. They took on Byron Friday night looking for the upset, but the Yellowjackets did what they did all year and rolled past Byron 56-6. Ithaca plays Montrose next week.

The Catholic Central Panthers hosted the Coleman Comets Friday night, and the Panthers put up some big numbers just like they have all season, beating the Comets 63-14. They remain perfect and wait for the winner of Blanchard Montabella and Bendle Saturday.

Midland up by one score in the second quarter when Avery Chatman takes the handoff and goes into the end zone, the extra point made it 14-6 Chemics. Carman Ainsworth put up six more points, but Midland takes this one easily 42-12. Midland plays Grand Blanc next week.

In the greater thumb, Sandusky pulled off two straight big wins to get into the postseason, they met Reese Friday night, who won the west division. Sandusky was leading 15-14 in the second quarter, but in the two minute drill, the Rockets Cody Peyok throws and touchdown with nine seconds left in the first half to go ahead. Reese would never look back, they launch themselves into the second round, they beat Sandusky 41-27. Reese takes on Harbor Beach in round two.

Hemlock took on the Carrollton Friday night, both 7-2 in the regular season. Hemlock was leading 14-0 in the second half but Carollton stormed back to tie the game. Then, the Huskies pulled it out in overtime to move on in districts, topping Carrollton 21-14. Hemlock plays Freeland next week.
