Saginaw beat Flushing 83-56 Wednesday to advance to the district final round against rival Arthur Hill
FLUSHING -- Wednesday was the boys basketball district semifinal round. At Flushing High School, Carman Ainsworth gave Arthur Hill a run for its money, but the Lumberjacks hung on 69-63 to advance.
The second game there was Saginaw High versus Flushing.
The Trojans jumped out to an 8-0 lead and never looked back. Kevin Marshall led Saginaw with 13 points as the Trojans beat Flushing 83-56. They advance to the district final round against Arthur Hill Friday night.
At Frankenmuth High School, John Glenn mounted a late-fourth quarter rally against Bridgeport to cut the Bearcats lead to just one with 23.5 seconds to go. But Bridgeport's Xavion Hopkins made both his free throws to seal the victory 58-55.
Bridgeport will meet Carrollton in the district final on Friday.
Bay City Western defeated Midland 47-44, they will take on Midland Dow on Friday night.
Beecher made it a perfect 23-0 Wednesday by dominating Burton Bentley 80-34. They will play Flint Hamady Friday.
Goodrich beat Otisville Lakeville Memorial 76-48 Wednesday. The Martians advance to the district final against Powers Catholic on Friday.
