Warriors owner, Pat McEachern confirms a deal has been reached to keep the team in Flint.
FLINT -- Michigan Warriors Owner Pat McEachern confirmed Monday night that an agreement has been reached between himself, the bank that owns Perani Arena, and a management company to keep the Warriors in Flint for the long term.
McEachern said the team applied for removal of their dormancy status with the NAHL, and it was approved Monday afternoon.
It will be a few days before the deal is finalized, but McEachern said in summary; he will remain the primary owner of the team, but Firland Management will become part-owner, and so will the bank that owns Perani Arena.
"It's a win-win," he said. "The bank improves the value of the arena by owning part of the hockey team that plays there. Plus, Firland Management will begin working on the administrative side of things as well as on the marketing, to get more people excited about the team."
To the average fan, McEachern said, not much will change. "Moe Mantha will stay on as coach and general manager, and we will continue to try to get kids into college."
The deal is for at least two years, but there are options for four or maybe more.
