Five Grand Blanc High School students signed their letters of intent Tuesday to go on to play college athletics.
Kelsey Cunningham signed on to play soccer at Siena Heights University. The Grand Blanc standout made the MHSAA All-KLAA team. Cunningham won’t be headed there alone as current Grand Blanc teammate Alexis Laurin will join Cunningham on the pitch at Siena Heights.
"I get to play at the college level, which is what you always dream of when you are little and once you get in high school its what you work towards, so to be actually getting that is really cool,” Laurin said.
A third soccer player, Alexanndra Gange, has signed on to play at Saginaw Valley State University.
Volleyball star Heather Roberts will be joining the Mott Bears this fall. The two-year varsity captain was named to the All Region team in 2010 and 2011.
Lastly, Marisa DiPonio has signed her letter of intent to play for the University of Alabama – Birmingham for bowling. The three-year varsity letter winner made the first team all conference in 2010 and was named the Most Valuable Player in 2011.
“They were actually interested in my sister at a tournament last year in Vegas. My mom said,’if you think she is really good, you should look at her sister’. So she (UAB’s coach) was looking at me, and she was really interested in me and I went and visited the campus and I really liked it and liked what they had to offer, “DiPonio said.
