The Detroit Red Wings resigned Darren Helm to a four-year/ $8.5 million contract Tuesday.

The 25-year-old forward scored 82 points for the Red Wings over the past three seasons and has been pivotal for killing power plays.

Helm battled nagging injuries down the stretch, including a cut on in his forearm in game one of the opening round of the playoffs forcing him to miss the remainder of the series against Nashville.
