After missing out on the Beijing games in 2008, Grand Blanc’s own Geena Gall is headed to the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Gall, 25, pointed her finger to the sky in celebration as she finished second to Alysia Montano in the women’s 800-meter at the USA Track and Field Olympic trials in Eugene, Oregon.

In the field of eight, Gall ran fifth for most of the race, but made a late charge in the last hundred meters. She finished a close second to Montano with a time of 1:59.24. Alice Schmidt finished in third, taking the last spot for the US team in the women’s 800-meter.

Gall previously ran for the University of Michigan, winning two NCAA 800-meter championships.
