Green will make his NBA debut for the Warriors on July 13th in a summer league game against the Lakers.
OAKLAND, CA. -- Saginaw native Draymond Green had to wait 34 picks before he was selected in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors.
Despite the lengthy delay before hearing his name called, the former Michigan State Spartan had a feeling he would be headed to the west coast.
"Coach Izzo kept telling me I've been talking to the Warriors a lot, look out for the Warriors I think they're gonna get you," said Green in a press conference. "When they actually came around it ended up being the Warriors that took me and it ended up coming true and it was a dream come true."
Green will make his NBA debut for the Warriors on July 13th in a summer league game against the Lakers. That game can be seen on NBATV.
The former Spartan will wear a familiar number, 23, the same number he wore at Michigan State.
Green led Michigan State with over 33 minutes and 16 points per game last season as a senior.
He also captained the Spartans to a regular season Big Ten Championship, followed by a Big Ten Tournament Championship. In 2009 and 2010 he helped contribute to back-to-back Final Four appearances.
