LONDON, ENGLAND -- U.S. Army Soldier and Saginaw native Sgt. 1st Class Daryl Szarenski is headed to London to compete in the Summer Olympics.
Szarenski is one of 17 soldiers, the Army’s largest group of athletes and coaches ever to compete in the Olympics.
The Michigan native will be making his fourth trip to the Olympics competing in the Free Pistol and Air Pistol shooting events.
Szarenski has gone on to hold three champion titles including World Cup Beijing Free & Pistol Champion. Szarenski is a member of the Army’s World Class Athlete Program (WCAP), which provides outstanding Soldier athletes the support and training to compete and succeed in national and international competitions leading to Olympic and Paralympic Games while maintaining a professional military career and promoting the Army to the world.
