The Mt. Pleasant Morning Sun and Central Life have confirmed this morning that former Central Michigan University running back Ontario Sneed, 25, has died.

Sources close to Sneed's family say the former Chippewa died Tuesday at John Warner Hospital at Clinton, Ill.  The cause of death is still unknown.

The four-year starter finished his career as a Chippewa ranked ninth all-time in rushing yards (2,863) and eighth in rushing touchdowns (26).

He caught 157 passes for 1,357 yards, ranking him sixth in CMU history in receptions.

Sneed signed a contract with the Colorado Ice of the Indoor Football League in 2011.
