Late into the evening, the Montrose Rams are preparing for the Reese Rockets, a team they said they cannot take lightly on Friday.

The defending Genesse Area Conference Red Division champions (10-1 in 2011) will head to Reese for the first football contest of 2012 for both schools. It is the first game between the two schools since the 1993 Class CC Regional semifinal (Montrose won 27-20).

Head coach Dennis Reinhart, in his 15th season at Montrose, said in order to avenge last season’s disappointment they have to play sound football against a sound football team.

“They're very well-coached, very disciplined, they don't make mistakes and they're not gonna beat themselves,” Reinhart said. “We’ve gotta play a great ball game. It’s game one and it’s gonna be a good matchup.”

“We’re taking it day by day and game-planning against them,” Caleb Reinhart, senior running back and defensive back said. “They’re a good team but if we play well we’ll definitely beat them.”

The matchup between Montrose and Reese is our NBC25 Game of the Week. Coverage begins at 6 pm on NBC25 News.
