BURTON -- Three Flint-area schools clinched playoff spots as Powers Catholic, Swartz Creek and Carman-Ainsworth all improved to 6-0 with convincing victories.

In Burton, the Chargers capped an emotional week with 42-28 win over Davison, avenging an early deficit to clinch its second straight playoff appearance. The top-ranked team in Division Five got the win hours after they laid to rest former coach Jack Pratt.

In Brandon, the Swartz Creek Dragons beat the Blackhawks 35-17, giving the school its first-ever playoff appearance. The Dragons had to avenge an early 10-7 deficit in order to win.

At Carman-Ainsworth, the Cavaliers used a 29-0 lead in the first quarter to put away Flint Northwestern 50-0. Jevonte Alexander returned an interception for a touchdown in the second quarter to help put Carman-Ainsworth in the playoffs for a second straight year.
