To say the Tigers starting pitching has been dominant is an understatement.
They hadn't allowed an earned run in 35 2/3 innings until game three of the ALCS when Justin Verlander gave up a home run in the 9th inning to the Yankees' Eduardo Nunez.
That made for some tense moments, but in the end, the Phil Coke and the Tigers got it done.
"The way Verlander pitched, man he was lights out," Quintin Berry said after game three. "Phil [Coke], the way he pitched at the end was amazing, the courage he had at the end, he's done what we've asked him in closing situations. We can't ask for anything more."
"We've just been executing all of our pitches," Max Scherzer, the game four starter for Detroit, said. "Every single one of us is executing our fast balls, finding both sides, and our off-speed pitches are the best they've ever been."
When Phil Coke was asked about the possibility of sweeping the Yankees, he said, "Come one man! Why do you have to do that?" Then, Coke knocked three times on his locker.
For those superstitious ones in the bunch, they might be reluctant to say it, but the Tigers are just one win away from the World Series, which would be their second trip in seven seasons.
