MONTROSE -- Once down 21 points in the second half, Montrose Senior Caleb Reinhart scored a touchdown with two minutes left – while junior Malik Taylor intercepted a pass in the end zone with a minute left as the Rams won the District Two Division Six district title 33-28 over Millington.

The Cardinals’ Chase Maxon returned the second half opening kickoff for a touchdown, giving Millington a 28-7 lead. Montrose answered with 26 points to capure the win.

Down 21-7 at halftime, Taylor said Coach Dennis Reinhart rallied his team.

“Coach told us it would be a war,” Taylor said. “We were down at halftime, came back out and still played.”

Taylor scored two touchdowns including an 80-yard reverse that brought the Rams within one.

Caleb Reinhart said Coach Reinhart believed that the team could rally back and that reflected in the performance.

“He knows we have it in us to stick together as brothers like we are and keep working hard,” he said.

The Rams will play Ithaca for the third consecutive year in the postseason for Division Six regional championship Friday night. Montrose is 0-2 in that span against the Yellowjackets.
