MT MORRIS TOWNSHIP -- The Beecher Buccaneers snuck into these playoffs with a 5-4 regular season record, but they're the only Flint team that remains, as they did the impossible last week, knocking off the defending state champs: Nouvel Catholic.

Beecher beat the panthers 19-15 last Friday and held them scoreless in the fourth quarter.

Head Coach Courtney Hawkins said his guys always believed and went to Nouvel on a mission.

Their mission only gets tougher this week when they take on Detroit Loyola in the state semifinal Saturday.

Loyola is a team that's undefeated, that's averaging 49 points per game, and one that's shut out teams five times this season.

Hawkins said Tuesday that his guys have a game plan in place, and fully believe they can get to Ford Field this year.
