Northwood's Wes Wilcox slams a basket home

MIDLAND -- The Northwood University men's basketball team returned home and earned a 77-60 win over Walsh University Thursday night (December 6).
Northwood is now 2-5 overall, 1-2 in the GLIAC. Walsh falls to 5-1 overall, 2-1 overall.
The two teams exchanged the lead early on, but Northwood took the lead for good at 10-8. The Timberwolves lead by as many as 14 in the first half before settling for a 39-28 lead for the half. Northwood used big advantages in points off turnovers (9-0) and second change points (7-0) to earn the lead.
Northwood maintained their lead throughout the second half, not allowing the Cavaliers to get any closer than 10 points.
For the game, Northwood finished at 45.2 percent from the floor (28-62), compared to 38.2 percent for Walsh (21-55). The Timberwolves finished with a 42-32 edge on the boards, which included a 13-8 advantage on the offensive glass. That allowed the Timberwolves to finish with an 18-3 edge in second chance points.
Four Timberwolves finished in double figures for the game, led by Booker Stoudmire (Ypsilanti, Mich./Belleville). He had team-highs in points (20) and rebounds (eight). Wes Wilcox (Roselle, Ill./Harper) added 19 points, and six rebound, while Dylan Langkabel (Morristown, Ind./Morristown) came off the bench to score 12 points and grab eight rebounds. Northwood will return to action December 8 vs. Malone University. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
