BAY CITY (AP) -- Two groups of men riding snowmobiles have been rescued from the ice on Saginaw Bay by the U.S. Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard says Saturday that three disoriented snowmobilers were hoisted about 9:40 p.m. Friday from the ice near Bay City after authorities received a 911 call.

Coast Guard crews about two hours earlier received a report that two other snowmobilers had crashed through the ice in the eastern part of Saginaw Bay about a mile offshore.

The men were able to scramble from the water on their own by the time rescuers arrived. One was flown by helicopter to an area hospital. An airboat carried the other man to shore, about 90 miles northwest of Detroit.
