It's not that Justin Kea didn't expect a call during the 2012 NHL draft, he just didn't expect a call so early.
Kea was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the 3rd round as the 73rd overall pick.
The 6'4" Canadian worked out with the Sabres during a private 'mini combine' a few weeks ago, and Kea obviously left a good impression on the team.
The Saginaw Spirit center didn't make the trip to Pittsburgh for the two-day draft because he said he 'wasn't sure what was going to happen.'
Now that he is a Sabres prospect headed for a developmental camp in a few weeks, Kea said it's starting to sink in.
But, he still calls the moment he got THE call from his agent as a surreal moment he will never forget.
