State ranked Frankenmuth held to seven second half points
FRANKENMUTH -- Valley Lutheran jumped out to a 16-9 lead over Frankenmuth and pulled away from there, beating the Eagles 68-27 Monday night in high school girls basketball at Frankenmuth High School.
The Eagles were held to seven points in the second half, and have dropped back-to-back games after going the first two months of the season without a loss.
In Birch Run, the host Panthers pulled away from Ithaca 62-44.
The Yellowjackets trailed by 14 early in the second quarter, before rallying to within five points just before halftime.
"Its very competitive. Its good to go over there and see what they have. Its always competitive, every time we go over in a crossover, so it's a good experience for our girls," said Birch Run head coach Erin Davis.
The Panthers used a quick surge in the third quarter to push their lead back into double digits.
"We let them back in the second. We wanted to pull away for the win. We had good pressure and did good I guess," said Birch Run junior point guard Sarah Hartley.
